I Believe

I believe the honor in which I reserved by being named after a grandmother whom I never knew and my mother loved, and another grandmother whom I know very well. I believe that it is a blessing to be a part of a caring, wonderful family. I believe that I am very fortunate. I believe in the love that I give to my family, I believe in the love I dish out daily to my two kittens. I believe in the friendship which surrounds me every day.
I believe that every person is born with an empty, void canvas, full of opportunity for color, texture and shape; I do not believe in fate. I believe in art; that everyone in this world has the talent to make to create something beautiful; I believe that art is nothing without a soul to interpret it; I believe that art is emotion suspended in time, held and captured as a means of communication. I believe that the initial reaction to art is the center of a flower; thoughts and emotions give birth to blooming petals of new ideas and beliefs. I believe that art should trigger emotions deep inside, hiding away from the sharp, peering eyes of the world.
I believe in balance, the power which the yin-yang character holds. I believe in the storm in which chaos is, and that it can be tamed with the beaming light of balance. I believe that violence is a reality; I believe that it should be stopped, thrown out to space to never be seen again. I believe that if all were to carry one simple emotion, one simple talent, that violence would be stopped. I believe in empathy. I believe that empathy is the key to the end of violence. I believe in the light one person can shine on a dark soul. I believe that the understanding of another's soul is the greatest honor one can hold, fulfilling the need of unconditional love and friendship. I believe that few have ever seen the inside of a soul, only slivers and flakes.
I believe that before I die I will have held the souls of many.
